I am a visual and recording artist, primarily known for small works in mixed media and for my involvement in various recording projects on Webbed Hand Records.
This weblog represents the hub of my numerous creative experiments and collaborations. In addition to updates on projects that I have participated in, I keep a journal of artistic discoveries and inspirations with a shared aesthetic or common frame of reference.
My visual art, diverse as it is, all possesses certain things in common. Building upon a foundation of old, faded and forgotten things, I construct, deconstruct, and recontextualize the various elements with an intensity of focus that could be considered obsessive. Each finished piece is the culmination of a very long process, which I see as having started ages ago, long before I was born.
My work in sound is akin to my visual work in that I apply raw materials such as old samples, my own voice and instruments, and other auditory mysteries, and process it into something which seeks to contain the timeless and ineffable. To me, recording is not a mere act of documentation, but a gesture that draws attention to something far away and otherworldly. I make work that reminds me of the sounds I hear in my imagination, or in dreams, which are often subtle and non-rational.
